Comets Archery Has Big Day at Missouri State & JOAD Championships

Cottey College made a strong impression at the 2026 Missouri State & JOAD Indoor Championships held January 17 in Independence, Missouri, with multiple athletes earning top-five finishes across collegiate and senior divisions.

In the Compound Collegiate Women category, Sabrina Guyton led the way with a commanding 1st place finish, scoring 521. Teammates Rachel Wagner and Xitlali Bioris followed close behind, securing 2nd and 3rd place respectively with scores of 512 and 506. Katelin Sutton rounded out the group with a solid 4th place finish at 461, giving Cottey a near sweep of the podium.

The Fixed Pin Collegiate Women division saw three more Cottey archers in the top five. Allison Nalley earned 3rd place with a score of 525, CJ Richards claimed 4th with 522, and Daisy Flint took 5th at 509—showcasing depth and consistency across the board.

In the Barebow Collegiate Women category, Asher Goncalves represented Cottey with a 3rd place finish, scoring 340. On the senior side, Ella Stiver placed 4th in Barebow Senior Women with 305, while Betty Smith earned 4th in Recurve Senior Women with a score of 141.

These results reflect a growing presence for Cottey College in competitive archery, with athletes demonstrating both precision and poise under pressure. With multiple podium finishes and strong showings across disciplines, the team continues to build momentum heading into the spring season.
