Cottey Cheer Shines at Arch City Cup and Cougar Classic

Cottey College Cheer continued its historic inaugural season with another strong week of competition, earning 5th place at the Arch City Cup and following it up with a 4th‑place finish at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Columbia College. The Comets once again proved they belong on the mat with some of the region's most established programs, delivering clean routines, rising difficulty, and unmistakable team energy.

 

Arch City Cup – 5th Place Finish Against a Deep Field

Competing in St. Louis, the Comets opened the week at the Arch City Cup, a meet known for its high‑level talent and tight scoring margins. Cottey delivered one of its most confident performances of the season, hitting key stunt sequences and showing improved synchronization across tumbling and transitions.

The routine showcased:

  • Strong stunt execution with improved stability

  • Sharper timing in pyramid and basket elements

  • A noticeable jump in overall performance confidence

The 5th‑place finish marked another milestone for a program competing in just its first season, reinforcing that Cottey is quickly becoming a team to watch.

 

Cougar Classic – Cottey Climbs to 4th at Columbia College

Just days later, the Comets traveled to Columbia, Missouri, for the Cougar Classic, hosted by Columbia College. Despite the quick turnaround, Cottey delivered an even stronger showing, earning 4th place in a competitive field.

The team's routine featured:

  • Their cleanest opening sequence of the season

  • Elevated difficulty in stunt groups

  • Crisp formations and improved visual impact

  • A high‑energy finish that brought the crowd into the performance

The jump from 5th to 4th in back‑to‑back competitions highlights the team's rapid growth and ability to adapt, refine, and elevate under pressure.
