Cottey Falls On Road to Ottawa

The 3-time defending National Champion Ottawa Braves showed the flag football world why they are who they are, as they defeated the Cottey Comets 75-0 in Ottawa on Wednesday.

The Comets had a few promising drives in the first half behind Quarterback Alyssa Hollis, but saw them stall at the goalline. Hollis was 22-37 passing for 121 yards and 2 Interceptions. Erika Roberts made her debut for the Comets this year, going 6-10 passing for 10 yards and an INT. Hollis was also the leading rusher, putting up 11 yards on the ground. Through the air, three Comets saw most of the targets, with Tahmya Squire catching 8 balls for 47 yards. Shamese Lee had 9 catches for 42 yards, and Kenzie Murdoch caught 6 passes for 14 yards.

On defense, a couple Comets had their first career Interceptions, with Shanell Norris and Laurencia Botts each grabbing their first INT in the blue and gold. Shamese Lee and Joliette Johnson shared the lead with 4 Tackles apiece.

The Comets fall to 1-3 on the season, and return to action Sunday for a Doubleheader in Salina, KS. They take on Kansas Wesleyan and Campbellsville University.
