Comets fall to Kansas Wesleyan

The Cottey College Flag Football returned to action on Saturday, taking on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. The Coyotes were coming off of a huge victory, handing Ottawa their first loss ever in KCAC play. On Saturday, they continued their winning streak, taking down the Comets 30-0.

For the Comets, a bright spot was Freshman Suzanne Aubert, who recorded another multi-Sack game, snagging 2 flags in the backfield. Angie Cruz was the Tackles leader on defense, pulling 6 flags and flying all over the field. The Comets used three quarterbacks in the game; Amya Corulla did most of her damage on the ground, carrying 5 times for 33 yards. Alyssa Hollis had 5 passing yards to go along with 13 rushing yards. Erika Roberts had the biggest passing play of the day, connecting with Shamese Lee for a big gain in the 4th quarter. Roberts would finish 3 for 3 and 43 yards through the air. Lee would take that big gain to be the leading receiver on the day, finishing with 5 catches for 54 yards.

The loss drops the Comets to 3-8 Overall, 1-8 in KCAC action. Cottey returns to action Wednesday for a road contest at Southwestern at 6pm.
