Cottey College sophomore outfielder Grayce Taylor has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Hitter of the Week, capping off a dominant offensive stretch that helped the Comets split their weekend series against Ottawa and MidAmerica Nazarene.
Taylor, a native of Verdigris, Oklahoma, was one of the most productive hitters in the conference over the two‑day slate, posting a blistering .571 batting average (8-for-14) while reaching base at a .571 clip and slugging .857.
Her weekend included:
-
8 hits in 14 at‑bats
-
4 doubles, showcasing her gap‑to‑gap power
-
4 runs scored
-
3 RBI
-
Multiple momentum‑shifting at‑bats in both series
Taylor's consistency at the top of the order set the tone for Cottey's offense, sparking early rallies and extending innings with disciplined, high‑quality plate appearances. Her ability to drive the ball into the alleys and apply pressure on opposing defenses was a key factor in the Comets' offensive success.
This marks one of the strongest weekends of Taylor's collegiate career and highlights her emergence as a central piece of Cottey's lineup as the season gains momentum.
The Comets return to action this week looking to build on Taylor's hot streak. Columbia College's Ella Schouten was the Pitcher of the Week.
