Cottey College faced off against Nelson University in a game dominated by long-range shooting, with a combined 65 three-point attempts—21 from the Comets and 44 from the Tigers. Head coach Eatman reflected on the unusual stat: "I have never been in a game where 65 threes have been taken. I would have preferred that, instead of us taking 21, we would have taken 21 free throws."
Defensively, the Comets held the Tigers to 11 made three-pointers, but the effort was challenged as the Tigers grabbed 34 offensive rebounds in the 86-53 loss.
Leading the Comets in scoring were freshmen Gabby Burrus and Makenzie Haynes, each contributing 14 points. Haynes' performance marked a career high.
The Comets will play their first home game of the season on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. which will also be Faculty Appreciation Night as well as a night to honor and show appreciation to our Veterans.
