Cottey College closed strong on Thursday night, using a dominant fourth quarter to secure a 74–56 win over Crowley's Ridge College.
The Comets held a slim edge throughout the first half, leading 15–12 after the opening quarter and 32–30 at halftime. Both teams traded baskets in the third, but Cottey began to find its rhythm, outscoring the Pioneers 18–16 to build a modest lead heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter proved decisive. Behind sharp shooting and defensive pressure, Cottey erupted for 24 points while holding Crowley's Ridge to just 10, sealing the victory in front of the home crowd.
AuShae Farris led the Comets with a game-high 23 points, including five three-pointers, while Gabrielle Burrus added 21 points, 7 assists, and 4 steals in a standout all-around performance. Navaeh Sanchez provided a spark off the bench with 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Andrea Aragon chipped in 10 points.
Crowley's Ridge was paced by Kyrsten Bake, who poured in 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in an impressive effort. Makayla Herndon and Brailey Houseman each added 8 points, while Madison Prysock scored 6 off the bench.
Cottey shot 40.6% from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers, while Crowley's Ridge struggled from deep, hitting just 2-of-13 attempts. The Comets also forced 28 turnovers, converting them into key scoring opportunities down the stretch.
With the win, Cottey improves its momentum heading into conference play.
