Cottey returned home on Tuesday night looking to build momentum in AMC play, but a slow offensive start proved too much to overcome as Harris‑Stowe earned a 54–36 win. The Comets battled throughout the second half, but the Hornets' interior presence and timely scoring carried them to the road victory.
First Quarter
Cottey struggled to find early rhythm, while Harris‑Stowe attacked the paint and controlled the glass. The Hornets built a 15–6 lead behind second‑chance opportunities and steady guard play.
Second Quarter
The second period was the toughest stretch of the night for the Comets. Despite generating some clean looks, Cottey couldn't get shots to fall and was held scoreless in the quarter. Harris‑Stowe added just seven points themselves, but the halftime margin grew to 22–6.
Third Quarter
Cottey responded with renewed energy out of the break. Andrea Aragon sparked the offense with confident drives and a three, while Makenzie Haynes and Ellaina LaNear helped stabilize the interior. The Comets put up 14 points in the quarter — more than the entire first half — and cut into the deficit, but Harris‑Stowe answered with 17 of their own to maintain control.
Fourth Quarter
The Comets played their best basketball in the final frame, scoring 16 points and showing the fight that has defined their group all season. Sydney Stumpf pushed the pace, LaNear continued to rebound at a high level, and Cottey finally found some offensive flow. Harris‑Stowe, however, matched the surge and closed out the game to secure the win.
