Comets Golf Open Season 8th at WWU Fall Invite

Comets Golf Open Season 8th at WWU Fall Invite

The Cottey College golf team wrapped up its fall invitational with a spirited showing, competing against a deep and talented field from across Missouri and neighboring states. While Lincoln University's Divya Gunasegar claimed the top individual spot with a steady +2 performance, Cottey's golfers demonstrated resilience and growth throughout the two-round event.

Leading the way for Cottey was Allyssa Crutcher, who posted a total score of +42, bouncing back from a tough first round with a stronger second-day showing. Audrey Robison followed closely at +54, maintaining consistent scores across both rounds. Ellaina LaNear and Vanessa Nail finished at +57 and +59 respectively, each showing determination and grit on the course. Luna Lanza, despite facing challenges and finishing at +176, completed both rounds with perseverance, embodying the team's commitment to improvement and sportsmanship.

The tournament featured standout performances from several programs, including Columbia College, Missouri Valley, and William Woods. Ellie Soderholm of Columbia and Hanna Rieker of Missouri Valley tied for second, while a competitive pack followed just behind. With over 50 players in the field, the event provided a valuable benchmark for Cottey's developing program.

Though the team didn't place near the top, the experience gained and the effort displayed were encouraging signs for the future. Each player contributed to a collective spirit of growth and camaraderie, and the lessons learned will serve them well as they prepare for the spring season. Cottey's golfers continue to build a foundation of resilience, and their journey is just beginning.

Cottey's next event is the Evangel Fall Invitational, held at Twin Hills CC in Joplin, MO on October 6th-7th.
