COMETS FALL ON SENIOR NIGHT IN 3 SETS

Nevada, MO. – The Comets season concluded on senior night with a tough loss to Avila University on Wednesday night.  Cottey (11-13) fell in a three-set sweep to the Eagles (13-17) with final scores of 20-26, 19-25, and 10-25.   

The Comets hitting percentage was well below average on the night at 6% while the Eagles hit 48% in the third set and 25% overall.

Briannah Quick(SO/Wright, WY.) led the Comets with eight kills and hit 14.3% on the evening.  Daize Jones (FR/Puyallup, WA.) ran the offense with 15 assists and zero errors while also contributing a team high 13 digs.  Lily Miller(SO/Centennial, CO.) was the most efficient Comet on the night hitting 33.3% with three kills in nine chances.  Reita Andrew(SR/Chuuk, Micronesia) and Sheyanne Matosich(SO/Manhattan, MT.) each had an ace to lead the serving attack.  Alesia Cooley(FR/Pflugerville, TX) tied a season team high with five blocks to lead the defense. 

The Comets honored seniors Reita Andrewand Madison Edeler(Greybull, WY) in their final career match.  Andrew's season was highlighted with a season high five aces against Ozark Christian College on September 3RDand had an incredible 30 digs against Central Christian on August 30th.  Madison was able to finish her senior season playing with her sister Tatum and had some incredible moments during the 2019 season.  She finished with a season high nine kills against Crowley's Ridge on October 18thand had a season team high five blocks against Ozark Christian College on September 3rd
