Cottey Volleyball Extends Win Streak to 7

Cottey extended their win streak to 7 at home versus conference opponent William Baptist in a 3-1 win at Hinkhouse on October 28, 2022. The comets also improve their home record to 9-1.

Set 1 Cottey - 20 - Williams Baptist 25

Set 1 of the match found these conference opponents back and forth throughout the match. The Comets had 13 kills on 44 total attacks in set 1, but ultimately the Comets were unable to overtake Williams Baptist, dropping the first set 25-20.

Set 2 Cottey - 25 - Williams Baptist 23

From there the Comets were unstoppable as they battled through Set 2 to secure a 25-23 win. The Comets were fueled by a nine point service run by Valencia Zamora to put the Comets up 13-9. Though Williams Baptist was able to pull even at 17-17 thanks to a service run by Sydney Burgin, the Comets never relinquished the lead. A kill by Kaylee Criswell with an assist from Alli Jo Mitchell, put the Comets into position to end the second set 25-23.

Set 3 Cottey - 25 - Williams Baptist 20

Williams Baptist took a quick lead in Set 3. Your Cottey College Comets fought back to tie the score 14-14. From there the conference foes traded point until the Comets pulled away to a 25-20 Set 3 win. The Comets took Set 3 with a five point run to end the set with service by Laurencia Botts putting the comets up 2-1.

Set 4 Cottey - 25 - Williams Baptist 18


Cottey came into Set 4 with a 2-1 lead. Williams Baptist drew first blood, but the Comets were consistent throughout the remainder of the match. Ultimately, the Comets were able to close out the set with a 25-18 win over Williams Baptist to end the day.

Staley Stallaby led the Cottey College Comets with 18 digs. Ali Dawson led the Comets with 13 kills on 36 total attacks.
