Cottey College takes home the win in Senior Night and final conference game against Stephens College 3-0 at Hinkhouse on Thursday, November 3, 2022.
The Comets end the regular season winning 9 of their last 11.
Set 1 Cottey - 25 – Stephens 18
Set 1 of the night had the conference rivals battling back and forth throughout the set. A five point run for the Comets gave them the space they needed to cruise the remainder of the match match. The Comets complete Set 1 25-18 with an assist from Alli Jo Mitchell and Kill by Kyleigh Talbott. The Comets had 17 kills on 37 total attacks and only 2 errors in Set 1.
Set 2 Cottey - 25 – Stephens 20
The Stephens Stars started on a three point run, but the Comets strung together several multi-point runs to quickly take the lead 15-7. Stephens battled back and evened the score at 19-19 on a serve by Isabelle Benson. The score remained tied 20-20 when the Comets turned up the heat, scoring six consecutive points to finalize Set 2 with a 25-20 win.
Set 3 Cottey - 25 – Stephens 18
The Comets jumped out to a quick 16-6 lead stringing together several multi-point runs. Stephens answered back with five points, including two aces by Tatum Frank, making the score 16-11. The Comets never led the Stars get any closer, as they cruised to a 25-18 win over Stephens college to cement their final conference win.
Ali Dawson led the Comets with 12 kills on 38 total attacks and 13 points on the night. Ali Dawson and Magdalen Dougherty both led the team with 14 digs.
