Six Comets honored in 2022 AMC Women’s Volleyball All Conference Teams

The American Midwest Conference announced its selections for 2022 AMC Women's Volleyball All Conference Teams.  Six Comets were honored as part of the selection.

KAYLEE CRISWELL – NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR, FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

Senior Kaylee Criswell from Rockdale, Texas nabbed both First Team All-Conference and Newcomer of the Year for the AMC awards.  The 6'2 Middle Hitter had a phenomenal senior season, starting 20 of the 33 matches for the Comets.  Criswell had 309 points on the season with 10 assists.  Criswell was the 6th highest in the AMC for blocks and a wall on the nets with 100 total blocks for the season, including 44 solo blocks.  Criswell was the 4th highest in the AMC in hitting percentage with 236 kills on 623 total attacks for a .319 Hitting percentage.

ALIYA DAWSON – FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENECE

Aliya Dawson had a standout Freshman season, bagging First Team All-Conference honors in her Freshman season.  The 5'8 Outside Hitter from Springfield, MO started 29 of her 33 matches for the Comets.  Dawson was 4th in the AMC for kills averaging 3.19 kills per set with 386 kills in 1,177 total attacks.  Dawson had the 3rd highest in the AMC with 447 points on the season with 49 service aces (4th in the AMC for Service Aces), 46 assists.  Dawson had 20 blocks and 358 digs on the season for a stellar freshman season.

STALEY STALLABY – HONORABLE MENTION ALL-CONFERENCE

Sophomore Setter Staley Stallaby from Fort Worth, Texas received All-Conference Honorable Mention award for the 2022 season.  The 5'6 sophomore was an outstanding performer for the Comets all season long; playing in all 33 of the season matches.  Stallaby had 64 kills on 372 total attacks.  Stallaby was 7th in the AMC with a whopping 618 assists (5.11 assists per set).  for Assists with a  Stallaby had 106 points with 37 service Aces.  Stallaby averaged 2.62 digs per set with 317 digs on the season and 10 total blocks.

MAGDALEN DOUGHERTY – HONORABLE MENTION ALL –CONFERENCE

Magdalen Dougherty received All-Conference Honorable Mention award for the 2022 season. The 5'6 Freshman Outside Hitter from Sapulpa, OK made her mark on the Comets despite it being her Freshman season.  Dougherty played in all 33 matches for the Comets this season  She had 39 kills on 170 total attacks, 16 assists, 67 .5 points with 26 service aces and 295 digs.

ALESIA COOLEY – HONORABLE MENTION ALL CONFERENCE

Alesia Cooley received All-Conference Honorable Mention award for the 202 season.  The 5'9 Senior from Pflugerville, Texas had an outstanding season in her 29 matches this season.  Cooley had 155 kills in 472 total attacks. Cooley also had 45 total blocks on the season including 9 solo blocks.

MARIAH ALDRICH – CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER TEAM

Mariah Aldrich, the sophomore Setter from Chadwick, MO was selected as the AMC Champions of Character Team representative from Cottey College.  Each team competing in the AMC shall select one member of their team according to the criteria established for the NAIA National Champions of Character Award.   That criteria states, "documented display of exemplary character and sportsmanship on the field, on campus, and in the community that exemplifies the core values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership."  Head Coach Marla Foreman states of Aldrich, "She is a standout in her integrity and responsibility as a student athlete.  She is always willing to help, never has a harsh word to say, and strives to do her work on and off the court to the best of here ability." Mariah is an exemplary student athlete who consistently demonstratives the characteristics of a Champion of Character at Cottey College.
