Cottey Volleyball Weekend Recap

October 24, 2025 — Cottey College vs. Central Baptist (AR)

Location: Reddin Fieldhouse, Conway, Ark. Result: Central Baptist def. Cottey College 3–2 Set Scores: 24–26, 25–21, 25–21, 21–25, 15–8

Despite a strong start and a fourth-set rally, Cottey College fell in a five-set thriller to Central Baptist. The Comets hit .298 in the opening set but struggled to maintain offensive consistency, finishing with a team hitting percentage of .097. Magdalen Dougherty led the team with 13 kills and 19 points, while Serafina Auberry and Tatum Marang each added 15 kills. Saylah Rea anchored the defense with 17 digs and dished out 31 assists.

Central Baptist capitalized on key moments, especially in the fifth set, where they hit .250 compared to Cottey's .000. Avary Smith powered the Mustangs with 15 kills and 18 points, while Lakyn Johnson contributed 11 kills and 12.5 points.

 

 October 25, 2025 — Cottey College vs. Williams Baptist (AR)

Location: Southerland-Mabee Center, Walnut Ridge, Ark. Result: Cottey College def. Williams Baptist 3–1 Set Scores: 25–14, 23–25, 25–16, 25–19

Cottey bounced back with a dominant performance against Williams Baptist. The Comets posted a .216 hitting percentage, with a standout fourth set at .273. Dougherty again led the attack with 11 kills, while Hannah Janson added 7 kills and 8.5 points. Mckinzie Bohrer was a force from the service line, delivering 9 aces.

Williams Baptist struggled offensively, hitting just .057 overall. Tinleigh Ruhman led the Eagles with 6 kills and a .263 hitting percentage.

 

October 25, 2025 — Cottey College vs. Central Baptist (AR) 

Location: Walnut Ridge, Ark. Result: Central Baptist def. Cottey College 3–1 Set Scores: 25–21, 16–25, 25–17, 25–10

In the second meeting of the weekend, Central Baptist again edged out Cottey, this time in four sets. After a strong second-set win, Cottey faltered in the third and fourth, hitting just .105 and .000 respectively. Dougherty led with 14 kills and 17 points, while Marang added 13 kills.

Central Baptist's offense surged late, hitting .375 and .435 in the final two sets. Lakyn Johnson was unstoppable with 19 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, while Madeline Freeman added 4 aces and 8 points.
