Cottey College Volleyball is celebrating a major academic achievement as Magdalen Dougherty has been named to the 2025–26 CSC Academic All‑District® Team, an honor that recognizes the nation's top volleyball student‑athletes for their combined excellence in athletic performance and academic achievement. The Academic All‑District program, administered by College Sports Communicators (CSC), highlights standout performers across NCAA and NAIA divisions.
The CSC Academic All‑District distinction is one of the most competitive academic honors in collegiate athletics. To qualify, student‑athletes must hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and must have competed in at least 90% of their team's matches or started at least 66% of them, according to CSC's published criteria. The award recognizes individuals who excel not only on the court but also in the classroom, balancing rigorous academic loads with the demands of collegiate competition.
Dougherty's selection places her among an elite group of volleyball players nationwide who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to both academic and athletic success. Her performance this season, paired with her strong academic record, made her a clear choice for the honor.
The CSC Academic All‑District program serves as the first step toward the prestigious CSC Academic All‑America® Team, where honorees advance to a national ballot for further recognition. Dougherty will now move forward in consideration for Academic All‑America status.
Cottey College Athletics praised Dougherty's achievement, noting that her dedication reflects the values of the program and the institution. Her recognition continues a growing tradition of academic excellence within Comet Athletics.
