Cottey College turned in a strong showing at the 2025 NAIA Marathon Classic, placing sixth overall in a competitive field that featured several nationally recognized distance programs.
Embry‑Riddle (Ariz.) claimed the team title with an impressive 14 points, followed by Evergreen State (Wash.) with 23 and Indiana East with 28. Cottey finished with 53 points, edging out Hastings (Neb.), who tallied 59.
The Comets held their own against a deep field that included regional rivals William Woods (Mo.), who placed fifth with 35 points, and Freed‑Hardeman (Tenn.), who finished fourth at 33.
Cottey's sixth‑place finish reflects a consistent team effort across the lineup, with the Comets continuing to build momentum as they move deeper into the winter racing slate. Junior Avery Morris was the top Comet to cross the finish line, taking 21st place with a time of 3:19.54, a time that qualifies her to run the Boston Marathon. Kallee Cook and Kyndal Soukup were the Comets that helped make the Comets team score, taking 6th in the event. The BMW Dallas Marathon was the site of this years event. The 26.2 mile event is a testament to the will of each competitor.
