CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Lincoln Christian awaited the winner of the semi-final match with fresh legs coming off of their bye in the limited three-team bracket. The Red Lions narrowly earned the top seed through a points process that counted previous meetings this season between the three teams even though the Comets swept both schools on Friday. The Comets took advantage of their quick match with Crowley's Ridge College and continued the momentum against Lincoln Christian by striking quickly. Cottey jumped out to a 9-0 lead, shocking the Red Lions who were never able to find their footing and regain control of the match. Cottey finished the first set 25-22, cruised through the second set 25-16, and capped off the A.I.I. Conference Championship with a 25-21 third set victory and a clean sweep. The Comets used a total team effort to put the Red Lions on the defensive. Three Comets reached double figures in kills as Miller added 12 more to her big day, Tidwell had 10, and Briannah Quick (JR/Wright, WY) had 10 of her own. Green once again came up big, leading Cottey with 25 assists and 12 digs on defense while Quick also added two big solo blocks.
