Cottey College volleyball lit up the court Tuesday night with a decisive 3–0 sweep over Hannibal-LaGrange, winning sets 25–17, 25–14, and 25–15. The Comets dominated from start to finish, showcasing sharp execution, balanced offense, and relentless defense in front of their home crowd.

Offensive Efficiency

The Comets opened strong with a .320 hitting percentage in Set 1 and surged to .385 in Set 2, finishing the match with an impressive .277 overall. Magdalen Dougherty led the charge with 9 kills on 16 swings (.562), while Serafina Auberry added 10 kills and 10 total points. Raelin Calderon was nearly flawless, hitting .500 with 3 kills on 6 attempts.

Serving Pressure

Cottey's serve game kept Hannibal-LaGrange on their heels. The team racked up 13 aces, led by Dougherty (4), Morgan Koch (3), and Saylah Rea (2). Their aggressive serving translated into momentum and quick scoring runs throughout all three sets.

Defensive Backbone

The Comets were just as sharp on defense, collecting 48 digs and 5 blocks. Rea, Katelyn (Gray) Scott, and Dougherty anchored the back row, while Tatum Marang and Rea contributed key solo blocks at the net. The team's ability to transition from defense to attack was seamless and effective.

Smart Distribution

With 34 total assists, Cottey's setters kept the offense unpredictable and fluid. Rea led with 14 assists, while Dougherty and Braylen Ford added 5 each. The balanced ball movement allowed multiple hitters to shine and kept the opposing defense guessing.
